Rhythm of tranquility

img

Blue planet is the only home we have. It was there before us. It will be there after us. Earth does not belong to us. We belong to earth. We must live harmoniously with nature. We can think of the ecological system as an orchestra playing together and needing a coordinated performance from all the musicians and their instruments. It doesn’t make any aesthetic sense to talk about rain-forests, deserts, plateaus, hills and molehills on their own. Be amused by the way nature invokes our imagination. There is a method in the madness. Violence of volcanoes reminds us to appreciate the serenity of the sea shore. Elevated sea waves alert us about the imminent tsunami. Sound of silence prior to the mayhem always seems surreal. Rejoice in dancing on the dune. Behave like ghosts of an unquiet land waiting for the frostbite.

Nature is not just a collection of resources that can be exploited, modified, altered, privatized, commercialized and transformed without any consequences. Crack in a quake gives us cue that the earth is a living system. It's time to relish the crescendo on a logarithmic scale. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Cloud bursts are here to reward us for our obduracy for times to come. Cacophony of tree felling will continue to reverberate in Mekong delta. Throwing pesticides on nature will always result in deluge of pests. Arid mind is the fertile ground for planning and executing the next disaster. There is no mystery in depleting water levels underground. The more we mine the more there is a chance of a mudslide. Dig more to die en masse. Should we remain oblivious forever?

Our African safari must not result in an animal-less kingdom. Greenhouse gasses do not care much about our class, caste, creed, religion, ethnicity and privilege. We are at an inflection point. Our green policies and actionable white papers on ground today will decide the future of our existence on the planet-blue. We have all the tools and instruments in our possession to create a sustainable and inclusive tomorrow. It's time to reason and summon our intent. Instinctive happiness should find a home in probability of a big bang. Grasping the beauty of geometry helps us understand the beauty of a solar eclipse better. Properties of triangles realize their true meaning in the Himalayas. Experience and appreciate viscosity while strolling on the river bank. It's time to be conscious of laws of thermodynamics. Cyclones and Tornadoes are nothing but expressions of heat-waves. Beauty is the assertion of courage.

"In the broad light of day mathematicians check their equations and their proofs,

leaving no stone unturned in their search for rigor. But, at night, under the full moon,

they dream, they float among the stars and wonder at the mystery of the heavens: they are inspired. Without dreams there is no art, no mathematics, no life."

—Michael Atiyah

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Mathematics is the easiest language to communicate with nature. It depicts life. Optimism is the fusion of our passion and character. If not find the rhythm of tranquility, the human race faces the prospect of being extinct.
